Frequently asked questions

What kind of animals will I see?
Refer to the Animals and Conservation page for the most up-to-date list of the animals you might spot on safari!
Do I need a reservation?
Yes! All of our safari options require a reservation, so be sure to make your reservation online before you head to Safari Lake Geneva! We do tend to sell out, especially on weekends and on both weekdays and weekends during the summer months, so it is best to book a few days in advance. We also provide private group tours some mornings which will block all available bookings at those times if a tour is booked so please check the availability in advance.

In order to provide the best possible experience for our guests, we do limit the number of cars we allow into the park each day. If we are sold out, we will not allow guests into the park without a reservation.

If you are unable to get a reservation for a specific day, keep checking the website for availability. Cancellations show up on our website in real time.

Reservations for the Guided Safari Adventure and Educational Safari Expedition require a two-week advance notice.
Why do I need a reservation for the Drive-Through Safari Adventure?
In order to provide the best possible experience for our guests, we do limit the number of cars we allow into the park each day. It reduces wait times and long lines in the animal reserves, and prevents our animals from being overfed. If we are sold out, we will not allow guests into the park without a reservation.

Do you have an admission price per vehicle?
All of our Drive-Through Safari admission rates are per person, not per vehicle. The only group rates available are for our Guided Safari Adventure tours and our Educational Safari Expedition tours, which are offered on Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday mornings at 9:00 AM. For these tour rates and reservations, please see our Group Tours & School Rates page.
How do I book an adventure?
Visitation is currently by online reservation only. You can book the Drive-Through Safari Adventure online on the Tickets page. The online reservation calendar indicates in real-time the number of spaces remaining.
How long should I plan to spend on safari?
The drive-through safari adventure allows you to drive your own vehicle through our wildlife reserves as many times as you like — so how long you visit with the animals is up to you! Your reservation guarantees entry to the park and is valid for the entire day. Our average guest is with us for 90 minutes to two hours.
Can I add additional people to my booking?
Yes! As long as the total number of vehicles in your reservation does not increase, you may pay for additional people when you arrive for your safari.
Can I feed the animals?
Our animals receive a specialty grain that is formulated to our exact specifications. This grain is available for purchase online or at the park. Guests are expressly forbidden from feeding our animals anything else. Most animals will approach vehicles to feed, however, we do ask that you keep your windows rolled up when you are in the giraffe and zebra reserve. Thank you for your cooperation.

Dependent on prevailing conditions, you may have the option to feed our giraffes from the designated feeding platform. Proceeds from our giraffe encounters help save wild giraffes in Africa. Inquire about this opportunity at the ticket booth when you embark on your expedition.

Do you have a restaurant on site?
We do not currently have any on-site dining options, but our staff would be happy to recommend some local restaurants!
Do you have a waiting list?
Unfortunately our reservation system does not allow for a waiting list. However, when we do get cancellations they appear on the website as availabilities. So it doesn’t hurt to keep checking the website if your preferred date is sold out!
What is your policy with respect to inclement weather?
We are open rain or shine, and most animals don’t seem to mind the rain. For their safety, however, the giraffes are typically not visible on rainy days. If you have an existing reservation and would like to reschedule, please follow the link on your order receipt and select an alternate date. We can issue a gift card that can be used to book for any future available date. Gift Cards are accomplished by email only at info@safarilakegeneva.com.
What if I need to reschedule my booking?
You are able to reschedule your reservation using the link in your booking confirmation email up to 1 hour in advance of your scheduled safari. Less than 24 hours in advance of your scheduled arrival, reservations are non-refundable, but are transferable to an alternate date.
Do you have restrooms available?
Yes! We have restrooms adjacent to the parking lot.
When should I arrive?
Pets are not allowed. Only registered service animals are permitted on the property. For the health and safety of our animals and our guests, we do not allow pets on the property. Please note, your windows must remained closed for the entirety of your safari if you have a service animal in your vehicle.
Do you have any vehicle restrictions?
Since you are sharing the same space with our animals and will be driving on gravel roads, we do not allow motorcycles, vehicles with an undercarriage lower than a standard sedan, open-top convertibles, vehicles without full doors/roofs and fully closable windows, or minivans with open doors. Only windows may be opened when in the game reserves. We do allow soft-top Jeeps and convertibles, but the tops must be closed. We do not allow guests to sit in the back of an open-bed truck.
